Rupert Smith specialises in surveys of all types of motor and sailing vessels, including:
Pre-purchase
Insurance renewal
Damage reports
Refit and repair supervision
Boat Safety Scheme examinations
Insurance condition reports
Design and stability analysis.
Experience has been gained from working 'hands on' in the boat building industry since 1981, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Yacht & Powercraft Design, ensure that all inspections are carried out thoroughly, and reports are concise and relevant to the clients requirements.
Survey and related work is carried out all over the UK and Europe, with regular work carried out in Brighton, Eastbourne, Newhaven, Shoreham, Rye and Littlehampton
Rupert initially trained at the IBTC in Lowestoft, learning practical boatbuilding skills and earning a distinction. After ten years working to build, repair and fit-out a wide variety of vessels, from dinghies to sail training ships and river cruisers to RNLI lifeboats, time was taken out to study. He graduated with a B.Eng(Hons) in Yacht & Powercraft Design and is a Member of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He is also a Member of the Association of Boat Safety Examiners.
